Thanks to a great article about what we do at Perennial in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last month, we ended up getting a ton of donations from great folks who wanted to see their unwanted objects transformed instead of taking up space in the landfill.

We had quite a few frames donated, so we decided to use up all those frames in our Outreach Program.

We showed the women at our partner agencies how to cut and shape broken pieces of glass into beautiful light-catching mosaic pieces.

One of the participants from Center for Women in Transition let us know she learned “that glass can be used for all kinds of things…I can re-use trash to make art.”

A woman at St. Patrick’s shared that she learned that “there is no right or wrong way. We are all creative in our own way.”

Materials Used: Used picture frames, broken bits of glass

Skills Taught: How to cut and shape glass, mosaic making
