During March we showed the women at our partner agencies how to create a handy sewing kit that can be taken anywhere!

We talked about gathering simple items that are easy to find – like cardboard from cereal boxes, and fabric from worn clothing. We showed our participants how to put those materials together to create a bright and durable cover for the kit. We placed needles, pins, thread and buttons on a scrap piece of felted fabric inside the kit, and practiced a few clever stitching techniques.

One of the women at St. Patrick’s Center told us “I love crafting, it calms me down. I also love the feeling of completing a project.”

Materials Used: cardboard scraps, fabric scraps, sewing notions
