In February, the women at our partner agencies learned how to use mandala making as a way to relax and self-soothe.

First, participants learned how to use a hand drill to make holes for hanging their scrap wood pieces, and then used different grits of sandpaper to smooth their wood blocks. We mixed up several different bright colors of Milk Paint – an environmentally friendly, non-toxic, durable paint we use at Perennial.  The workshops became very quiet and calm as the participants focused on painting their mandalas on their wood pieces.

Materials used: wood scraps, milk paint

Skills taught: drilling and sanding wood~creating mandalas~painting with milk paint
