For April’s outreach workshops, we taught how to use scrap paper to make beautiful and unique pieces of handmade paper.

First, Perennial’s teaching artists talked about how the average American uses about 700 pounds of paper products per year!  Then the women got to try their hand at using a regular kitchen blender to make paper pulp out of bits of used paper and junk mail.

The women of St. Patrick’s Center loved using molds to make sheets of paper and paper shapes. With all our partners, we had a lot of soggy fun making our paper on rainy April days and felt really good about finding a creative way to keep a little extra paper out of the landfills!
