Erin King

Erin King is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in fiber-based processes. She is driven by the social responsibility of the individual as well as the strength and interconnectedness found in community. Social responsibility drives her incorporation of found objects and materials, but this act is also one of redemption – of finding value and purpose in that which has been discarded. Strength and interconnectedness found in community can be found in the joining together of smaller drawn or material elements to create something stronger or different than the sum of the parts.

King received her Master’s of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an Emphasis in Fibers in May 2019. She was Fiber Artist-in-Residence at Craft Alliance in St. Louis from July through December 2019. In addition to teaching classes at Perennial, she works as a Direct Support Professional at Fine Line Studios in Bridgeton, MO, and as a Gallery Attendant at the World Chess Hall of Fame. She also teaches fiber art classes and workshops through Craft Alliance.
