Emily Dunlap

Emily is a St. Louis based artist, maker, and educator.  She studied sculpture at SIU Edwardsville and has an MFA from Syracuse University.  Sculpture includes so many material possibilities so she considers herself a jane of all trades but fibers of all kinds have been a constant.  She deconstructs as much as she creates, salvaging lace, pearls and sequins from wedding gowns to use in her sculptures.  When she isn’t teaching she is most definitely sewing, snuggling her cats, or caring for her family of over 50 plants. She thinks of herself as a plant curator, finding just the right pot, hanger, and window for each special plant baby.  Emily proudly claims both titles of cat lady and plant lady.
