In April we taught the women from our partner agencies how to create a simple woven bowl.

First, we taught how to make a circle-shaped weaving loom out of cardboard.  Then we showed how to warp the loom with string then weave on the loom using colorful t-shirt yarn scraps.

A participant form St. Pat’s said she learned to use “recycled t-shirts or fabrics to craft new things. (Got my creative juices flowing again)!” Another participant from Center for Women in Transition said she learned “an activity that’s really easy for my kids to do with mommy.”

Materials Used: Cardboard, scrap yarn and fabric

Skills Taught: Warping and weaving on a circular loom
