Although we didn’t officially set any Perennial New Years resolutions, I think we definitely started 2012 off with a bang. Our momentum propelled once we started to settle in our new shop at 7413-15 S. Broadway. You’ve seen our space develop over the last two months as random alley finds have been transformed into functional objects for our workshop, retail space, kitchenette, and conference area. But you haven’t heard the inside scoop on all the programing plans we have in store this year! We’ve got a whole shebang of new features from new community partners to Saturday DIY demonstrations, new classes, and old favorites!

We’ve been fortunate to meet some awesome folks not just in our classes, but those who have let us transform their studio, shop or café into a workshop for the day! A big thanks to the ladies in charge of Urban Eats Café, SOHA Studio + Gallery and The Foundrie for being great supporters + programming partners! With the start of March, Perennial just released our second quarter of classes. We’ll be moving around the different neighborhoods, stopping at Bowood Farms and our new partner, The Upcycle Exchange, for a few workshops. And, for the first time, Perennial will be hosting a few classes right here in our shop! We’d love to have you join us for a class and check out our lovely upcycled home. Don’t miss out on Jenny’s handmade bike trailer demo scheduled in May! Get yourself (I mean your bike) hitched this summer. See our ‘classes + events’ page for a full listing of workshops.

Not only will we offer workshops in our space, we are launching a new monthly series, DIY Demos, to bring you in-depth and hands-on tutorials about the eco-friendly products, processes, and tools we use to build our repurposed goods. Stop by our shop one Saturday a month, and for a mere $5, get a quick one hour demo + Q&A session with Jenny Murphy. Our first DIY Demo will be April 28th and by the end of this talk you’ll know just how to furnish your house for free! Check out all the different topics on our ‘classes + events’ page.

And at Perennial, we don’t stop there. We love to craft and chit-chat and have a drink and relax on a blursday. Plus, we think you might like that too. Back in February, Perennial launched reMAKE Thursdays, a series of meet n’ greets over the craft table. This is one of my favorite programming editions this year. It’s a great way to hang out with a few friends, try out a new bar/café, and learn a few small upcycling projects. You even get to leave with something made by hand. Go ahead and brag! If you feel craft challenged, we’ll be there to guide you through each project. Plus, Perennial provides all materials + tools! We just ask you tip Perennial 5 bucks for program support. Our first reMAKE took place at Urban Eats with a great turn out. A few garden lovers traveled all the way from Washington, MO to partake in the festivities! I’m looking forward to a new round of crafts at Water Street on April 19th for our second reMAKE event.

Looking forward to meeting a few new faces!
