1. What is your favorite reclaimed material to work with now?

Any weird vintage jewelry I find at estate sales or people bring in to my store to try to sell to me.  I have some lockets with cute little old ladies pictures still cut into an oval.  I love having that super personal, yet strangely removed, backstory.

2. What is the most interesting/weirdest item you have found in an alley, the trash or a thrift store?

The weirdest thing I saw was at the Gypsy Caravan flea market.  It was a round hat box with a big thick braid coiled inside like a snake.  I so wanted it but at the time didn’t have a place to showcase such a curiosity.

3. What artist/designer/person inspires you? (moms included 🙂 )

I just read the story of the girl that started Nastygal.com. She started off selling vintage clothing online and has turned it into this huge business and now sells other big name designers.  She took that little idea and RAN with it.

4. What do you love most about St. Louis?

I love that any entrepreneur or artist has room to do their project, big or small, short or long term here.  I know so many people who have their own business or organizations, or just take a summer to do some cool creative project.

5. What is your favorite type of pie?

Pizza pie 🙂

6. What is your occupation?

I am co-owner and co-designer of Scarlett Garnet jewelry on Cherokee Street.

7. Where can I find Scarlett Garnet online?

Scarlettgarnet.com and Etsy Shop
