DESCRIPTION:Our next swap will take place on Saturday\, August 23rd from 10am–12pm at the Quaker Meeting House at 1001 Park Avenue. \nWant to be the first to learn when swap tickets go on sale? Become a Reuser+ member to support Perennial’s non-profit mission and receive member benefits and updates. Join or upgrade today. \nHow exactly does it work?\nWe will be accepting clothing donations prior to the swap at the Meeting House (see dates and details below) so volunteers can pre-sort all items. No clothing donations will be accepted the day of the swap. You can donate clothes in good condition even if you are not planning to attend to ensure we have a wide selection. Volunteers will sort the clothes by item in advance and swappers will be able to browse and select clothes just like at a store. The great news is\, unlike a store\, you won’t pay by item for things you take home. Instead\, we will weigh your clothes to know how many pounds we are diverting from the landfill. \nWhat’s included in my ticket?\n\nClothes\, community\, coffee\, and cookies! \nWhen and where can I drop off clothes to donate to the swap?\nDonations can be dropped off at the following dates and times: \n\nSaturday August 16th from 11-5pm @ Perennial – This is the only Perennial drop-off time!\nWednesday-Thursday\, August 20 + 21 from 4-6:00pm @ the Meeting House\nFriday\, August 22 from 12-5:00pm @ the Meeting House\n\nYou do not need to purchase a ticket to donate clothing! \nIf this is your first time attending a swap or you want a refresher\, we encourage you to read all of the details and frequently asked questions here.\nPlease note that we have increased ticket prices by $5 to offset rising costs and the loss of federal funding opportunities for our non-profit organization. DESCRIPTION:Join Urban Harvest STL and Perennial to learn how to harvest rainwater in your backyard and build a DIY rain barrel to take home. \nLearn how to transform a food-safe 55-gallon drum into a DIY rain barrel for your garden. We will cover how to modify the barrel\, create a base to elevate it\, and how to connect the barrel to your gutters for rain water harvesting at home. \nSpace is limited as each participant will take a rain barrel home. You will be responsible for transporting the barrel. Additional hardware may be required to connect to your gutters at home or to winterize your barrel\, but a basic setup will be provided. \nFor a gutter connection\, this project will only work for rectangular gutters that are 2″ x 3″ or 3″ x 4″ (Please confirm your gutters are compatible ahead of registration). Come to class with pictures of your gutters\, and the instructor will give advice on the best place to connect your rain barrel and how to alter your barrel specifically for it’s new home. \nThis event is hosted by and will take place at Urban Harvest STL. DESCRIPTION:Our next swap will take place on Saturday\, February 22nd from 10am–12pm at the Quaker Meeting House at 1001 Park Avenue. \nHow exactly does it work?\nWe will be accepting clothing donations prior to the swap at the Meeting House (see dates and details below) so volunteers can pre-sort all items. No clothing donations will be accepted the day of the swap. You can donate clothes in good condition even if you are not planning to attend to ensure we have a wide selection. Volunteers will sort the clothes by item in advance and swappers will be able to browse and select clothes just like at a store. The great news is\, unlike a store\, you won’t pay by item for things you take home. DESCRIPTION:Materials saved from the landfill:\nplant materials \nSkills you’ll learn:\nethical foraging\, identification + extraction of fiber from a plant\, cordage making from plant fibers \nLet’s go back to our roots (pun intended)! In this class\, you’ll go on a foraging field trip down our alleys (weather permitting) to learn how to identify plants that offer strong fibers for making cordage\, commonly known as string. You’ll then ethically harvest those fibers from the plants and learn how to properly dry and wrap those fibers to create cords you can use for a variety of projects. \n
