DESCRIPTION:Materials saved from the landfill:\nbed sheets\, pillow cases\, fabric scraps\, salvaged yarn \nSkills you’ll learn:\npunch needle \nLearn how to use a punch needle using salvaged fabric scraps + yarn! In this workshop\, participants will use a selection of pre-cut fabric scrap yarn and salvaged yarn to “punch” with into a woven fabric base\, creating a loop textured fabric patch. You’ll learn how to cut down your own reclaimed fabric yarn\, and which sizes of salvaged yarn work best. We’ll discuss finishing your piece and turning into an item like a pillow or purse\, or you can leave it on the frame. A punch needle tool will be used in the class\, and you can purchase one at the shop for future projects! \n

You’ll learn how to maintain and use your worm bin and its compost\, leaving with a finished bin that includes your new wiggly pets ready to get to work creating the BEST soil for your plants. \nAll materials for class will be provided\, but if you’ve got a plastic bin laying around that is not clear and is ideally wider than it is tall\, you can bring it with you to create your worm bin! \n

In this class\, you’ll go on a foraging field trip down our alleys (weather permitting) to learn how to identify plants that offer strong fibers for making cordage\, commonly known as string. You’ll then ethically harvest those fibers from the plants and learn how to properly dry and wrap those fibers to create cords you can use for a variety of projects. \n
