In this class you’ll make a Vintage Halloween Oil Painting using an old masters oil transfer technique with little to no waste. You will receive a pre-gessoed piece of wood with a salvaged frame\, and instead of using terpenoid\, you will learn how to use natural non-toxic oils as paint thinners and wetness extenders. You’ll even learn how to save unused paint and how to properly clean your brush for your next masterpiece. \n

SUMMARY:Thrift Flip: Alterations + Embellishments
DESCRIPTION:Materials saved from the landfill:\ntextiles \nSkills you’ll learn: \nsimple but impactful adjustments to a button-down’s hem\, waist\, + sleeves\, and creative ways to embellish your clothes \nGive secondhand shirts a fresh start! In this class\, you’ll learn how to tailor and rework thrifted button-downs into new\, wearable garments that reflect your personal style. Using basic sewing techniques + creative design choices\, you’ll transform everyday finds into something completely your own — and keep perfectly good clothes out of the landfill. \nNote: students should be able to thread + sew a straight stitch on a sewing machine. \n  \nWe’ll provide shirts for you to work with\, but if you have one that could use a refresh\, you’re encouraged to bring it along! \n
