Additional hardware may be required to connect to your downspout at home or to winterize your barrel\, but a basic setup will be provided. The setup and parts provided in class ONLY work with a rectangular downspout that is 2″ x 3″ or 3″ x 4″. Come to class with pictures of your home and downspout options\, and the instructor will give advice on the best place to connect your rain barrel and how to alter your barrel for its new home. \n

In this class\, participants will get to sample several different traditional shibori techniques\, including kumo\, which involves tying and binding your fabric\, and itajime\, which involves clamping your fabric. We will provide approximately 2 square feet of fabric for each dyeing technique. We’ll be using indigo dye to dip into a vibrant\, striking blue you’re sure to love. \nUse these techniques outside of class to revive your old sheets\, pillowcases\, or articles of clothing! \n

DESCRIPTION:Custom framing can be pricey\, but this DIY framing process will give you contemporary frames for just a few bucks + your time! Participants will leave this workshop with a handmade 8″x10″ wood picture frame. In the first session\, we will learn to cut frame stock from reclaimed 2x4s\, and practice measuring\, cutting\, and clamping custom sized frames. As certain plants work best for certain basket shapes\, the shape of the basket and specific weaving technique you will learn in class is dependent on which plants are ready for harvest at the time of class.
