Try something new or take your natural dye skills to the next level by learning how to cultivate and use the indigo plant. As with many natural dye classes\, this is a great skill for refreshing and repurposing old or stained textiles made with protein fibers such as silk or wool. Perennial is excited to offer this unique class in collaboration with teaching artist and farmer\, Erin Luna of Black Rat Farms. Materials will be provided\, but be sure to bring your indigo dye questions! \nAlthough this class is sold out\, there are still spots available in the next class on August 29.

In this demonstration-based class\, we’ll cover ways to hem clothing\, change the shape and fit of a garment\, remove and change elements such as collars\, sleeves\, or buttons for a new look\, and more. You’ll get step-by-step tutorials on each of these processes and we’ll have time for a class show-and-tell where we‘ll share what alteration projects we want to tackle and each get advice on the project. \nParticipants should have basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine or have taken Perennial’s Sewing Machine Basics workshop. \n
