Skills you’ll learn:
sewing, making fabric water resistant, waxing fabric
Learn how to wax canvas with local beeswax to create water and weather resistant fabrics! Jenny Murphy, Founder of Perennial, will share step-by-step instructions on how to create your own waxed fabric. Participants will use a sewing machine to turn their waxed canvas into a reusable tote bag.
This is a live virtual class that will be conducted via Zoom, and you will be emailed instructions about how to participate prior to the class. Participants must have a working sewing machine setup at their home, along with an iron and scissors. We will provide kits for you to keep that include shredded beeswax, paraffin wax, canvas fabric, and thread. You may pickup on Wednesday, May 27 from 2-4pm, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange another time. We will also provide “loaned” supplies of a cooking pot, wax jar, and brush, that you can return to Perennial in the week after class.
