Skills you’ll learn:
sewing construction, adding a zipper
Turn fabric remnants into a thrifty pouch! The class will cover the basics of using the sewing machine to create a rectangular zippered pouch. You’ll learn how to use the sewing machine to add a zipper without needing a different presser foot. This pouch makes a great handmade gift or a simple carryall for toiletries. Plus, you’ll be able to apply the same techniques covered in class to future clutches, purses, and pillow cases! Participants are welcome to use their own fabrics to use for this project, or they may pick from the options outlined in photos below.
Before participating in this workshop, students will need to take our Sewing Machine Basics class or have basic knowledge of how to use the sewing machine.
This is a virtual class that will be offered via Zoom. Participants will be emailed information about how to participate prior to the class. To participate, you should have your own sewing machine setup at home, as well as fabric scissors or rotary cutter, iron + ironing board, ruler, and a surface to mark and cut fabric on. You can pickup a kit of materials containing fabric, a zipper, and thread on Tuesday, October 27 from 3-5pm, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange another time.
