Materials saved from the landfill:
Skills you’ll learn:
waxing fabric, sewing, cutting fabric
You don’t need to go out and buy new products to reduce waste at home — you can make them yourself from reclaimed materials! There are so many ways to help keep common disposables out of your kitchen. In this workshop, we’ll go over best practices to reduce the amount of trash coming in and out of your cabinets, counters, and fridge. Then, we’ll make a few items that you can put to use right away. Replace paper napkins with handmade cloth napkins, trade in plastic wrap for cloth beeswax wraps, and skip the plastic produce bags at the store with new fabric ones. You’ll be able to craft all three of these in the informative and fun workshop!
This is a virtual class that will be conducted via Zoom. Participants will be emailed information about how to participate prior to the class. You may pickup a kit of materials containing fabric for napkins, t-shirts for produce bags, and supplies for making a beeswax food wrap on Thursday, September 17 from 11a-5pm, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange another time. You must have a saucepan, stovetop, and iron to use during the class.
