Longstitch book binding, awl, bonefolder
An older, German bookbinding technique, the Longstitch, uses a single thread to sew multiple sections into a leather cover. Traditional tools such as a bonefolder and a bookbinder’s awl will be used to prepare the upcycled materials. Each participant will create a small, unique and functional book whose pages open completely, perfect for sketching, notetaking, or other recordkeeping.
This is a virtual class that will be conducted via Zoom. Participants will be emailed information about how to participate prior to the class. You may pickup kits containing upcycled letterhead paper, leather, newspaper, embroidery floss, glue, brush, and needle on Thursday thru Friday, February 11-12, 11am-5pm, or email email@example.com to arrange another time. If you do not have your own bookbinding tools, you will need to add a refundable Tool Deposit to your cart to rent a bone folder, palette knife, awl, scissors, cutting mat, X-Acto knife, pliers and ruler.
