Skills you’ll learn:
sewing, quilting, binding
Placemats are great for both indoor and outdoor dining – a perfect item for summer picnic time! In this class you’ll learn to create your own quilting pattern, piece together a custom placemat, quilt the mat together, and bind the edges with bias tape. The skills you’ll gain will be transferable to any other quilting or home sewing project. You’ll leave with both a placemat and the confidence to design and make other quilted items.
Before participating in this workshop, students will need to take our Sewing Machine Basics workshop or have basic knowledge of how to use the sewing machine to sew a straight stittch.
This is a live virtual class that will be conducted via Zoom, and participants will receive information about how to participate by email prior to the class. You will be able to pickup a kit of supplies containing thread, fabric, pins, and other needed materials on Thursday-Saturday, July 22-24 from 11a-5pm, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a different time. You must have a sewing machine in working order setup at home, and you will need scissors and an iron as well. Fabric is chosen upon pickup, or you may provide your own.
