Skills you’ll learn:
cathedral window and four point star piecing techniques, sewing
Make a denim throw, using a piecing and folding technique that is sturdy and highly decorative. Class participants can choose between the classic, gently rounded “Cathedral Windows” technique, or a more angular “four point star” variation. The technique is the same for both designs.
In the first class, students will start the denim “framework” of the throw. Between classes, students are encouraged to use the workshop to increase the size of the throw and to select the contrasting fabrics from the supplies at Perennial…or they should feel free to find other fabric that works with their design idea. The instructor will be happy to discuss the options for contrast, offer ideas for selection of fabric, and determine the amount needed.
In the second class, students will cut their contrasting fabric, and learn how to secure it within the denim framework. The final step will be folding and stitching down the denim to complete the throw.
Please note, this class takes place on Wednesdays, September 13 and September 27 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
