Skills you’ll learn:
cutting glass; soldering; copper foil; pressing botanicals
Create an upcycled specimen frame from scraps of glass and pressed botanicals! Participants will learn to use recycled glass, copper foil, flux and lead-free solder to sculpt their custom frame. Perennial staff will demonstrate how to safely use a glass cutter to create custom shapes from found clear glass, and how to preserve plants through pressing. Participants will also learn how to create and attach a custom sized jump ring with chain to hang their frame with. Feel free to use your own pressed plants in your frame, or use what we provide. You will make one specimen frame in class.
Note: This class requires hand strength and the use of a very hot tool. Patience, an eye for safety, and hand dexterity will help participants achieve their design goals.
This is an in-person class that will take place at Perennial. You will be assigned your own socially distanced work station, and will be required to wear a mask while you are here. Our full policies can be found here.
