Materials saved from the landfill:
linoleum, paper, envelopes
Skills you’ll learn:
Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. In this class you will literally be using linoleum salvaged from the landfill to carve your block. You will also learn a fast way to make your own print-making ink using Nori, a Japanese rice paste, pigment (we will use turmeric), and gin. We will print DIY style, pressing your linocut against salvaged paper and rubbing the back with a wooden spoon. We will give you the skills and materials necessary to print your own cards at home.
