Skills you’ll learn:
quilt design, piecing, tying and sashiko quilting
Warm your home with a handmade quilt! Learn the log-cabin technique to reuse vintage and reclaimed fabric to construct a unique geometric quilt top. Learn how to plan out your color scheme, cut fabric, and begin sewing your quilt top from the center of your quilt with a straight stitch. Learn how to choose the correct batting for the inside of the quilt and back the quilt with a large piece of fabric. The class will cover two quilting techniques (tying and sashiko), and begin quilting their layers together. The class will learn how to make their own edging tape to give their quilt a finished look. Participants will need to supply their own batting. A variety of fabric will be available to you, but feel free to bring in bedsheets, jeans, and other fabrics from home to create your quilt. Participants will leave with a quilt square, and the knowledge to continue working on completing their quilt outside of class.
