Please note, this two-day class takes place on Tuesdays, August 18 + 25 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
The French Tape Binding is an exposed spine binding that features the French link stitch sewing technique over ribbons attached to a hard cover. In the first session of this class, participants will learn paper tearing and gluing techniques to create a block of pages and a hard book cover with attached tapes. In the second session of this class, participants will bring the prepared book parts together using the French link stitching technique. Each participant will leave class with their own French Tape book made from upcycled materials. Participants are welcome to use their own decorative paper to personalize their covers, or use provided options.
This is a virtual class that will be conducted via Zoom. Participants will be emailed information about how to participate prior to the class. You may pickup kits containing upcycled letterhead paper, chip board, newspaper, embroidery floss, glue, brush, needles, and ribbon, and wax paper on Thursday, August 13 or Friday, August 14 from 11am-5pm either day, or email email@example.com to arrange another time. If you do not have your own bookbinding tools, you will need to add a refundable Tool Deposit to your cart to rent a bone folder, palette knife, awl, scissors, cutting mat, X-Acto knife, pliers and ruler.
